Review: Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream

I initially tried a sample of this lightweight moisturizer from Drunk Elephant and immediately fell in love with it. Given the high price point, I waited for the annual Sephora sale and took advantage of it. So, was it worth it to buy a full size?

My skin type: Mostly normal to dry (eczema flare-ups); prone to acne.

$89 CAD (50ml) at Sephora

Drunk Elephant is a clean and cruelty-free brand.

Silicone, sulfate, paraben and alcohol free.

Includes plenty of amino acids, vitamin E, lactic acid, and sodium hyaluronate (conditioning).

I am not normally a fan of lightweight moisturizers because I don’t find them effective for my dry spots — BUT, upon application, I was so surprised to find that this cream hydrated so thoroughly!

The first time I used it, I couldn’t stop touching my face! It leaves my skin feeling so plump and soft.

It also sits nicely under makeup and sinks in fairly quickly. I find the texture so lovely and soft; it’s very easy to mix serums oils and serums in with it.

It comes in a really cool container that you can press down on to get product out. This container keeps the product fresh and protected for longer. I think it also helps to prevent you from taking too much at one time.

Obviously, it’s a very pricey moisturizer so I will only get it when on sale. Maybe one day I can regularly buy $90 moisturizers, but today is not that day! BUT, I think it’s an excellent moisturizer and is one of my favorites.

Have you tried Protini? Do you prefer Protini or the more hydrating and thick Lala Retro by DE? Let me know!
