What is it?
This lip primer from Fresh is a chemical exfoliant that claims to smooth the lips in preparation for lip products. In a study by Fresh, many users agreed that the lip primer made their lips look smoother and more vibrant after 2 weeks.
I bought the drops in hopes of using it as a serum to see results over time. I deal with rough texture on my lips as well as dryness. I aimed to use this as a treatment of sorts to smooth out my lip texture. I understand that it’s called a “lip primer”, but I expected more because of how it’s advertised:

Does it work?
My experience with this product is that it’s quite inconsistent.
Sometimes I found that it did very little or nothing at all; my lips weren’t soft or smooth afterwards. It was just sugar water that added that slightly tight, dry feeling to the lips.

However, most of the time, it did work as a lip primer and it worked well. I was actually quite surprised when it did work, because it did the job so nice and quick: barely a drop is all you need (so it will last a long time) and your lips are instantly smoother, making lip product application easier. When it works, it gives a surface-level smoothness (and a rather tightened feeling) ready for lip color.
As for results over time? I don’t know about that, although I used the product 4-5 times a week for about 2 weeks. It’s really difficult to judge because my experience with the product is so inconsistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does nothing. The rough texture on my lips would go for a day or two, and then come back worse. It just got to be a really annoying cycle.
Final Thoughts
The price point of $34 for a 10ml lip primer, or lip serum, is rather pricey, and so I expected a lot from this product but unfortunately, I’ve found it to be lackluster.
My main grievance with this product is that it’s so expensive and yet it only gives you a superficial results — and only half the time, at that.
Now that I have it, what I like to do on nights when my lips are feeling extra rough is apply the drops and then put the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask on top.
Perhaps there’s a method to this product I haven’t figured out yet, so I don’t want to give up just yet either. I’ll continue experimenting with it. Let me know if you have any tips!

oo I’ve never heard of Sugar before or a lip primer before! It’s unfortunate it’s inconsistent.. for that price I think it should work consistently! It’s a good thing you don’t need a lot at a time though. Thanks for sharing Susan!
